About Crystal

Hello my name is Crystal Shores I am a resident of the San Tan Valley/Queen Creek area. I try to eat clean as much as possible and having restaurants which make it easier to do so is amazing. I am going to list my top 5 favorite restaurants in the San Tan Valley/Queen Creek area. My 2 year old Harley has an allergy to sunflower oil which can be found in most processed foods so eating clean is a must for our little family. Eating clean helps eliminate her exposure. I will start with her favorite places.

PITA JUNGLE

 

Pita Jungle is known for its health-oriented Mediterranean dishes. The first dish I would recommend is the Wood Fired Fresh Salmon served with garlic mashed potatoes and wilted spinach. The second dish which is vegetarian friendly would be the Wood Fired Vegetable Salad this dish is the perfect harmony of veggies which includes Broccoli, cauliflower, eggplant, zucchini, yellow squash, mushrooms, tomatoes, carrots, garlic, on mixed greens tahini drizzle fresh basil and cilantro with lemon vinaigrette.

The Queen Creek Olive mill

This wonderfully unique establishment is well known for their Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Did you know they grow the olives press them and bottle them right on the farm? They also have an amazing restaurant with some of the most flavorful clean eating options. The first entree which is big enough for sharing is the Chicken Arrosto this boneless half chicken is marinated with garden fresh herbs (straight from the garden on site) lemon and garlic, herb roasted potatoes seasonal veggies (we love when it comes with the pan seared Brussels sprouts), and a natural chicken au jus. The Super Greens and Quinoa salad is truly packed with superfoods. This salad has an assortment of super greens, quinoa, cucumbers, tomatoes, sliced avocado, pumpkin seeds, pomegranate seeds, tossed in the most delicious homemade pomegranate balsamic vinaigrette. I could eat here everyday!

Their belief is food should not only taste good but make you feel good. I would certainly agree with this statement. The food is very healthy and delicious. The Balanced Bowl is the perfect healthy breakfast. This bowl is your Choice of chicken or steak, scrambled eggs, roasted vegetables, and brown rice. They also serve this amazing unique salad under their menu option “the chops”. The Beet chop (aka salad) is a beautiful melody of house greens, arugula, golden beets, sour apple, goat cheese, cashews, golden raisins, and red wine vinaigrette. The plus side of this place is that the food is fast healthy and extremely flavorful.

Bar Vinedo, this unique American (traditional) style restaurant has some of the most flavorful entrees I have ever had. The Pork Chop entree is served with Mango chutney, corn on the cob with herb butter, and herb roasted potatoes. Another must have is the Superfood Kale Salad this salad is packed full of superfoods including red kale, barley, wheat berry, wild rice, red and white quinoa, strawberry, raspberry, dried apricots, red onion, goat cheese, avocado, with homemade prickly pear vinaigrette. Everything is made with the freshest ingredients. The chef truly takes pride in what he does making everything from scratch and constantly adding the most unique and delicious specials so keep an eye out for those.

The Bistro,  a farm to table restaurant I feel like is a hidden gem I’ve mentioned it to many people who have never been there. I would recommend going there the next time you have a chance the chef is absolutely amazing. They have dinner specials that the chef customizes. The dinner specials will change depending on what the chef wants to serve. Keep that in mind check with the bistro to see what their dinner specials are for that weekend. The first dinner special that I’m going to feature was July 28 the first course included the Fattoush Salad; heirloom tomatoes, cucumbers, red onion, radishes, red bell peppers, with a sumac pomegranate vinaigrette. The second course of the night included the Petit filet mignon, sautéed shrimp, roasted garlic mashed potatoes, and rainbow Swiss chard. Sunday through Thursday they do close at 3 PM so keep that in mind. So of course I have to mention a breakfast option they have an amazing vegetarian omelette which is the perfect blend of flavors including roasted peppers, mushrooms, spinach, red onion, and white cheddar served with sliced tomatoes and sprouted toast.

*** Bonus Fast Food Option: Salad And Go

Brand new to the San Tan Valley/ Queen Creek area This fast food option is great if you’re on the go and you need something healthy they have a ton of different salad options that you can customize. They also serve fun unique soups. One of my favorite soups that they offer is the Lemon Chicken Quinoa soup this healthy and jam packed full of flavor soup features carrots, celery, zucchini, peas, lemon chicken, and quinoa.
